The beautiful Australian High Country

Hello everyone!  Suzie here!  Safely home from our big adventure in our little popup camper Gladys.  She is awesome by the way.

I have already shared some pics of our journey with you all and I really wanted to share these gorgeous memories from our visit to the Snowy Mountains in the Australian High Country.

My husband Dave is a snow sport addict, however since the little peeps came along we have not so much as eyeballed snow, little own ski on it.  So of course, our tour of NSW had to include a visit to Thredbo Village. For our friends overseas Thredbo Village is nestled in the foothills of Australia's highest peak Mount Kosciusko.

The day we arrived at the van park in Jindabyne is was a scorching 38 degrees and needless to say we were not coping very well at all.  Lucky for us the temp at the top of the chairlift at Thredbo was a balmy 25 degrees, so you can just imagine where we were heading straight for!

We packed our picnic lunch and began the short drive towards Thredbo.  Now the Snowy Mountains are beautiful in Winter but Summer did not disappoint either.  It was beautiful.  We ate our picnic lunch by a gorgeous bubbling creek with the ducks!!!!  I love ducks!!! And these pics show you the little friend I made whilst enjoying the mottled sunshine!  Ahhhhh!!!  How's the serenity peoples?

Look closely and each pic shows the journey of my little feathered friend from the water to sitting right in front of me patiently waiting for some food.  Unfortunately for him, he had chosen the wheat allergy family to sit with for lunch and I am telling you now there is never a crumb little own a slice of bread to be shared with a cute little critter such as this.  We did not think he would enjoy bean dip!

We then headed to the very big, very long and very high chair lift to take us to the top of the resort to start our stroll to the Kosciusko lookout.  There was no way we were making the full trek.  Joe was complaining after the first 50 metres.

High country is beautiful.  In a former life Dave and I trekked in the Himalayas and to date it was the most amazing thing we have ever done!  This high country did not disappoint.

There is something about the crisp, fresh air and the beautiful clumps of wild flowers dotted here and there.  Patches of snow and trickling streams making there way to the valley below.  Ahhh!  I really love it!!!

If you ever get the chance to walk the high country in summer do it.  It is something you will not regret!  Here are some pics for you to enjoy.

How beautiful is that!
